Help us build George Wythe University
BRICK BY BRICK

…And give yourself the opportunity to
win $100,000 in tuition!

How can I win George Wythe University tuition?

George Wythe University extends the opportunity for a person or group to win $100,000 in tuition through the most exciting fund raising program yet! It is called Brick by Brick. Any individual or group can participate in the contest by offering the chance for businesses, individuals, and supporters of GWU to purchase a personalized brick to be used in the construction of the new Monticello Campus.

The first person or group to sell 600 bricks before DECEMBER 31, 2009*
will win $100,000 in tuition!

How can the tuition be used?
*

GWU has never before made such an offer! If the tuition is used in conjunction with the Merit Scholarship, a single student could complete three degrees at GWU.

The first group to sell 600 bricks may use the tuition give-away in the following possible scenarios:*

A group of 2: Five years of on-campus tuition each.
A group of 4: Almost three years of Bachelors undergraduate tuition each.
A group of 6: Four semesters of Bachelors on-campus tuition each.
A group of 10: Two semesters of Bachelors on-campus each.
A group of 15: One and a half semesters of on-campus tuition each.

What happens if I don’t reach 600 bricks before the deadline?
*

The first 3 groups or individuals to sell 500 bricks before the deadline will each receive an all expense paid Four-Wheeler Weekend in Monticello for up to 8 people. The first 6 groups to sell 400 bricks before the deadline will each receive 10 all expense paid seats to the Statesmanship Invitational.

Each individual or group that sells the following number of bricks before December 31, 2009 will receive the following:

300 Bricks - 1 week of Hebrew Block at GWU
200 Bricks - GWU Hoodie
100 Bricks - Premium GWU Ball Cap
50 Bricks - GWU Sports Water Bottle

What do the donors get?

For every $300 brick donation, donors select up to three lines of text to be engraved on their brick, which will be used in the construction of the new George Wythe University Campus in Monticello, Utah. Each donor will receive a certificate of recognition showing the inscription as it will look on the brick.

The architectural committee will determine brick placement. Some potential brick positions include placement in buildings and on walkways, as well as being built into benches, gazebos, fountains, and flower boxes. All engravings will be visible and easily accessible. The following pictures are examples of how the engraved bricks could be used. A brick placement map will be created for easy locating.

Who can I approach to donate for a personalized brick?

The beauty of this contest is that practically anyone can be approached to purchase a personalized brick. Bricks are purchased by immediate family members, local businesses, and supporters of the university. Grandparents purchase bricks for their grandchildren, or a brick could be purchased to honor a deceased loved one. They can even be given as birthday or holiday gifts! Brick purchase is not only limited to people who support GWU, but is open to people who support you and your goal to fund your education! Talk to your family doctor, your dentist, fellow church members, neighbors, and family members. You will be amazed at who will want to support you in this project if you will just ask.

The Department of Resource Development will provide all participants with marketing materials and coaching as needed. Conference calls may be scheduled to discuss the contest or Resource Development personnel may also make a site visit to explain the details. The GWU website will track all brick activity for each individual or group participating in the contest. The deadline for this contest is December 31, 2009.

  3. Marketing materials will be sent to each participant upon registration and then later upon the participant’s request.  Forms and other information are also available online and may be printed for use in the Brick by Brick Contest.  Participants will not be reimbursed for associated costs, including printing or additional marketing.
  4. Participants must submit completed donation forms and payments to the GWU Department of Resource Development within 30 days of securing the donation.  Participants are responsible for all postage costs.

  8. The $100,000 in tuition will be awarded to the first participant to reach 600 donated bricks.  If two participants reach 600 bricks by 5 pm on the same day, a tie-breaker will begin upon notification of both participants.  Once both participants have been notified, the first participant to reach 610 bricks will win the tuition. This process will continue to 620 and so on until one of the participants has secured the lead.
  9. If a participant is a group of two or more, the tuition will be split evenly between/among each member of the group.

  11. Tuition is transferable to another accepted student upon the request of the recipient, but all rules for the tuition usage run concurrent from award date and apply to the new recipient.
  12. The tuition may be used for any degree program offered at GWU.  It may also be used for Distance Studies, Extension, or the Statesmanship Seminars.
  13. Tuition may be used in conjunction with other scholarships.
  14. Use of awarded tuition is subject to changes in tuition costs or other fees.  Tuition costs are not grandfathered or frozen.
  15. Recipients of prizes are responsible for all applicable taxes associated with winning any of the prizes.
  16. Prizes are available to each participant that reaches the specified number of bricks.  Aside from the tuition grand prize, which is split among the members of a group if participant is a group; all other prizes will be given to each member of the group (except for applicable limitations to the Statesmanship Invitational, and the four-wheeler weekend).
  17. Recipients of the four-wheeler weekend will have all expenses (including travel to Monticello, Utah) paid for up to 8 individuals.  First priority is given to the members of the winning group, if the participant is not an individual.  Groups of less than 8 people may invite guests.  The weekend may be redeemed May-October until 2010 and is subject to change relating to academic and other schedules.
  18. Seats to the Statesmanship Invitational and the Hebrew Block must be used no later than 2012 and are subject to availability.  Seats may be redeemed by winning participants and/or their invited guests, up to 10 seats per winning participant.
