Leadership & Fitness

Mentored by Andrew Groft, EdD, CPT
and Leslie Groft, BA, CPT

July 5 – August 13, 2010
4 Credits (optional)

The greatest leaders in history were effective first in their ability to lead themselves and then in their capacity to influence others. This course introduces students to key elements of leadership, both by precept and practical application. Students will also be introduced to diplomacy, or the art of building bridges. Together these skills empower leaders to inspire others, and to meet the challenges history warns are inevitable.

A physical component is added to this course to help students develop self-mastery and discipline through rigorous physical challenges.  Academic study will be enhanced by practical application in goal setting, team building, intense wilderness activities, instruction on proper diet, and safe and effective exercise.  Goals of this course will include making improvements in physical, mental and emotional well-being, resulting in leaner body composition as well as the habits of self-mastery required for sustaining both greater fitness and diplomatic leadership.  At the conclusion of the course, the instructors will remain in contact with each student five days a week for an additional 12 weeks to coach, answer questions and encourage students to perpetuate their new habits into daily life.

Only 10 participants will be accepted to this program.  See the itinerary below to evaluate the intensity of the course.  Due to the strenuous physical nature of this seminar, all who register may not be accepted. See details below.
