Build the Campus

Join us in helping George Wythe University grow!

Parents and students alike recognize the necessity of gaining a leadership education. All nations of the world need great leaders to lead them through challenges and crises.

As a dedicated provider of leadership education in America, George Wythe University has made plans to develop multiple campuses and expand into a university.

In 2003, through tax free donations from those who support our mission of building statesmen, we raised enough to finance the beautiful building from which we now operate in Cedar City, UT. In 2007, two families generously donated 200 acres of beautiful land in Monticello, Utah for our second campus.  We also financed the purchase of an additional 320 acres adjacent to this property.

A condition of the land purchase was that we hold classes there by 2010. Architects began planning and drafting the campus and infrastructure work.  Generous monthly donations by hundreds of individuals and families have made the architectural work possible.

This urgent time-frame created a need to raise funds for the expansion of our current Cedar City campus and complete the first buildings on our second campus in Monticello. To complete the first phase of this campus, we needed to raise $20 million by the end of 2012.

Based on our previous funding campaigns, except for the top 10 donors, the average contribution has been $25 per month over 32 months. Small monthly donations from a large number of donors adds up to substantial sums to meet our growing needs and serves to attract larger donors who witness the success and stability of our institution. Thus, we are announced the 2007–2012 Friends of GWU “Build the Campus” Drive, which would raise funds through regular, monthly donations.

The goal for Build the Campus Drive was $3 million or 15% of the overall $20 million goal of the George Wythe University Capital Campaign. Successful completion of this drive would create momentum to propel the other facets of our campaign, resulting in an extraordinary additional campus which will make it possible to educate more future statesmen and ultimately move the cause of liberty throughout the world.

The Friends of GWU “Build the Campus” Drive was to proceed on the following model:

Year Number of Donors Individual Donation Monthly Amount Yearly Amount
2007 300 $15 $4,500 $18,000
2008 700 $20 $14,000 $168,000
2009 1200 $25 $30,000 $360,000
2010 1700 $28 $47,600 $571,200
2011 2200 $30 $66,000 $792,000
2012 2800 $35 $98,000 $1,176,000
For a Total of $3,000,000 by December 31, 2012

The global recession that began in 2008 has had a significant impact on these plans and have made unrealistic the scheduling established for the Build the Campus campaign as well the plans to have buildings in place by 2010.

In 2010 it became necessary to deed back the 320 acres under contract in Monticello.  We continue to explore the opportunities available to us with the 200 donated acres.

Expanding George Wythe University is an exciting endeavor and requires funding for the development of many more highly prepared mentors and the construction of permanent facilities to accommodate the thousands of students who desire to attend George Wythe University now and in the future.

Help us succeed in this mission by becoming a monthly donor. Join the Friends of George Wythe University today by setting up your donation through our secure online website.  You may also contact the Department of Resource Development at (435) 586-6570.
