International Students

Statesmanship is sorely needed throughout the world.  We welcome students from all nations and encourage them to apply.  International students should be aware of the following circumstances that may affect them:

Student Visas

Until we complete the accreditation of our degree programs, we will not be able to assist international students who desire student visas to travel to the United States to study.  We encourage students who are unable to study on-campus to apply for our online programs.

English Fluency

In order to best serve those who are non-native English speakers, we require that applicants demonstrate a certain degree of English fluency using the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) administered by ETS.

Applicants must achieve a minimum score of 500 (TOEFL PBT), 173 (TOEFL CBT) or 61 (TOEFL iBT).

GWU does not offer remedial English proficiency courses.  Students may choose to take English classes through the GWU language program, which includes Rosetta Stone, but college-ready proficiency will likely require outside study.
